Baby Zappers

Hoop Awards 2019 - Winner Badge.png

Babies from birth to 18 months (or walking) can attend our award winning Baby Zappers classes

Research has shown that babies can recognise songs that were played to them in the womb. For this reason at Zip Zap we use traditional nursery rhymes and songs. As Sally Goddard Blythe, a consultant in neuro-developmental education and director of the Institute for Neuro-Physiological Psychology , says “Song is a special type of speech. Lullabies, songs and rhymes of every culture carry the ‘signature’ melodies and inflections of a mother tongue, preparing a child’s ear, voice and brain for language.”

From birth, children learn about the world by touching, tasting, smelling, seeing, and hearing. Sensory experiences contribute in crucial ways to brain development. At Zip Zap we like to think of it as “food for the brain.” Stimulating the senses sends signals to babies’ brains that help to strengthen neural pathways, which later become important for all types of learning.

During the Baby Zappers classes, babies will be exposed to different textures, shapes, colours, smells and sounds, which they will have chance to fully explore. The objects we use are disinfected after every class, as most babies like to explore things with their mouths!

All Zip Zap classes are totally Breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, changing nappies and nap friendly.
